In Flex We Trust ? Tech Talk Gaming: Sega Expects Extraordinary ...

segalogo Sega Begins Installing Toylets in Japan

Sega notified investors today that it expects to post huge losses for their fiscal year due to the ?severe economic environment? in the United States and Europe as well as ?rapid changes? in the market. In order to recover, they plan to make drastic changes.

@Yungjohnnybravo @TatWZA

?We conducted detailed reviews of earnings projections for titles targeted toward the U.S. and European markets and decided to narrow down sales titles from the following period and after to strong IPs, such as?Sonic the Hedgehog,?Football Manager,?Total War?and?Aliens?which are expected to continue posting solid earnings,? said Sega in a?document?outlining their structural reforms. ?In accordance with this, we are canceling the development of some game software titles.?

There?s no mention of what games will be axed. Considering how long?Aliens: Colonial Marines?has been in development, I assumed it was in danger. Glad to see Sega specifically mentioning that the?Aliens?is safe. The company mentions that they?re going to strengthen their ?digital content? development so any downloadable titles in the works should be spared as well.

Sega also says that they?re going to ?streamline? their organization in both the United States and Europe. In other words, they?re laying people off. The company hopes that these cuts will position them for ?sustained profitability.? Again, no specifics on which companies will be hit by these lay-offs.

Though they?re taking it on the chin in the video games department, Sega?s not doing too bad in arcade industry. However, it?s not enough to keep them in the black. They?expect to post a loss of 7.1 billion yen, which is about $85.7 million

Analysis: HMO investors breathe easier about health law ruling

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Now that the Supreme Court has given a glimpse of how it will consider the healthcare overhaul, more investors in health insurance stocks are breathing easier about the eventual ruling.

Wall Street is less worried about the worst-case scenario for insurers: that the court strikes down the individual mandate requiring people buy insurance, but keeps in place provisions that could force insurers to cover more sick, high-cost Americans.

Investors also increasingly believe the whole law may be tossed out, analysts said, which could boost health insurer stocks in the near term. Several analysts pointed to UnitedHealth Group as a stock that should do well regardless of the ruling, while Aetna Inc has been a strong performer this week.

The high court heard three days of arguments over the law championed by President Barack Obama this week, with close scrutiny paid to every question posed by its justices.

Legal and political commentators saw shared support for the law among the court's four liberal appointees, but question whether Obama's administration will win over one of five conservative justices needed to keep the law intact.

As the nation waits for a ruling in late June, the thesis for healthcare investors has changed slightly, analysts and fund managers say.

In the worst-case scenario, the court strikes down the individual mandate, which requires people buy insurance or face a penalty, while maintaining provisions that force insurers to offer coverage regardless of health status.

Insurers have said that the mandate is necessary to ensure that healthy people are in the insurance pool, because without it they would only see an influx of sick, high-cost consumers.

But given the court's debate, analysts said, investors are discounting chances of such a partial decision.

"Investors gained comfort with the operating environment that (health insurers) are going to have," Jefferies & Co analyst David Windley said. "The worst case is now unlikely."

Analysts cautioned that health insurer stocks could tumble 5 percent or perhaps much more if the individual mandate alone is struck down.

"People at this point have pretty much dismissed the potential for an adverse outcome here, which would be the individual mandate gets tossed and everything else remains the same," Susquehanna Financial Group analyst Chris Rigg said.

Shares of large health insurers outperformed the market this week, and posted significant gains on Thursday.

Aetna jumped 6.5 percent on Thursday, while Coventry Health Care rose 5.9 percent and UnitedHealth and Cigna Corp both climbed more than 4 percent.

For the week, the Morgan Stanley Healthcare Payor index of insurers rose about 6 percent through Thursday against roughly flat performance for the broader S&P 500 index.

THESIS CHANGING

Going into the start of the debate on Monday, the consensus among investors was that the law will be upheld -- a decision viewed as modestly positive for insurer stocks because it would create more certainty about their business in the coming years.

But the high court's debate created the impression among many on Wall Street that there is a greater chance the mandate is at risk, and possibly the entire law.

For example, former Aetna Chief Executive Ron Williams told CNBC television on Thursday he now believed that the individual mandate, had a "high probability" of being overturned.

"Going into the debate on the mandate, there was almost a sense of complacency out there that the mandate would stand, as would the law," CRT Capital analyst Sheryl Skolnick said. "Investors were thrown a curve ball."

However, should the mandate be struck down, the most likely scenario is that the court will also strike down provisions that require insurers enroll all individuals regardless of health status, according to Sanford Bernstein analyst Ana Gupte.

This scenario is positive for insurers because it eliminates risks from enrolling potentially unprofitable members through the new insurance exchanges to be created by the law, but would still allow the companies to increase their membership through the expansion of the Medicaid health program for low-income Americans.

Gupte called the court's developments this week "thesis-changing" for investors given that the diminished chance of the worst-case decision and the improved odds for the more positive scenario.

Thursday's rise for insurer stocks indicated that investors also may have been pricing in the court overturning the entire law, according to analysts at Goldman Sachs.

Such a ruling would also create uncertainty for the insurers, but could help their stocks in the near term by eliminating new regulations viewed as onerous to the industry.

OVERTURN NEGATIVE FOR HOSPITALS, MEDICAID COS

Wall Street generally agrees that an overturn would hurt hospital companies. The law stands to increase the potential pool of paying patients by providing coverage for more than 30 million uninsured, many of whom otherwise might seek care but leave hospitals with unpaid bills.

Hospitals shares have traded lower during the week. Through Thursday, HCA Holdings fell 4.6 percent, Tenet Healthcare declined 1.7 percent and Community Health Systems slipped 0.9 percent.

"They could experience some additional weakness," CRT's Skolnick said. "I can't see where first-quarter earnings are going to generate a rally. I think they're going to be range-bound."

At the same time, Skolnick said, "Should reform pass this test completely, you wouldn't want to be short the hospitals."

Shares of insurers that specialize in Medicaid also may come under pressure ahead of the decision. The law is set to significantly expand Medicaid, providing a new growth opportunity for these smaller insurers.

Although the consensus seemed to be that the court would uphold the specific portion dealing with the Medicaid expansion, an overturn of the entire law could negate the expansion.

For now, investors do not seem overly concerned about this possibility: Shares of Medicaid specialists Amerigroup and Molina Healthcare both rose 1.7 percent for the week through Thursday, while Centene climbed 5.7 percent.

Oppenheimer & Co analyst Michael Wiederhorn said to expect some volatility among such companies until June, but said he'd "use weakness in the Medicaid names as a buying opportunity."

"When you look at the big picture of the Medicaid names, states are still struggling," Wiederhorn said. "States will continue to outsource this business."

Even as investors placed bets, some analysts maintained that nothing definite emerged from the three-day proceedings.

"It's a fool's game to try to figure out a 5-4 vote one way or another," Wiederhorn said.

(AP) ? French police detained 19 people Friday as they launched a crackdown on suspected Islamist extremists in cities around the country, the French president said, promising more raids to come.

Tensions are high following a spate of killings in southern France by a radical Islamist that left seven people dead and two wounded and ended up with police killing the gunman last week after a 32-hour standoff.

President Nicolas Sarkozy gave no details about the reasons for Friday's arrests or what the detainees were suspected of.

"It's in connection with a form of Islamist radicalism," Sarkozy said on Europe-1 radio. "There will be other operations that will continue and that will allow us to expel from our national territory a certain number of people who have no reason to be here."

Sarkozy said he didn't know whether the 19 detainees were part of any network.

A police investigator told The Associated Press that the anti-terrorist section of the Criminal Brigade detained five men before dawn in Paris who had suspected links to an Islamist movement. Weapons were also seized, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with the department's rules.

The other arrests took place in Toulouse, Marseille, Nantes and Lyon, the official said, adding that these raids were not linked to the inquiry into the slayings in Toulouse and Montauban.

In Nantes, the head of Forsane Alizza, a radical Muslim group that formed two years ago, was among the detained. In October 2011, a preliminary inquiry was opened into the Forsane Alizza organization, and the French Interior Ministry broke up the group in February.

Mohamed Merah, a 23-year-old Frenchman, claimed responsibility for the shootings that left seven dead. Merah, who espoused radical Islamist views and said he had links to al-Qaida, was buried near Toulouse on Thursday.

Three Jewish schoolchildren, three paratroopers and a rabbi were killed in the worst terrorist attacks in France since the 1990s. The slayings revived concerns about homegrown Islamist radicals carrying out violence.

French Muslims have worried about a backlash after Merah's attacks, and French leaders have urged the public not to equate Islam with terrorism.

But concerns about radical Islam are high, and the government on Thursday banned a string of international Muslim clerics from entering France for a conference of a fundamentalist Islamic group.

Sarkozy is locked into a tough battle for re-election ahead of the first round April 22 presidential vote. For years he has made law and order one of his signature themes.

"It's our duty to guarantee the security of the French people. We have no choice. It's absolutely indispensable," he said.

Video shows Zimmerman shortly after Martin shooting

Does surveillance video of George Zimmerman in police custody on the night of Trayvon Martin's death contradict claims that he was beaten and bloodied during an altercation with the Florida teen? NBC's Ron Allen reports.

By msnbc.com staff

Updated at 7:09 a.m. ET: Surveillance video footage of George Zimmerman being led from a police car shortly after he fatally shot teenager Trayvon Martin does not appear to show any injuries or bloodstains, but his attorney says the video is too grainy to be revealing.

The footage, obtained by ABC News?on Wednesday, shows a handcuffed Zimmerman getting out of the police car unaided and walking into the police station where he was taken after the shooting in Sanford, Fla.

It was taken about four hours after the deadly incident.?

There are no visible signs of injuries to Zimmerman's head or blood on his clothes. However,?he is wearing a red jacket, which could obscure blood stains.

Appearing on NBC's TODAY on Thursday, Zimmerman's attorney Craig Sonner described the video as "very grainy." He also pointed out that Zimmerman had been "cleaned-up" and received first aid in the four hours between the incident and Zimmerman's videotaped arrival at the police station.

Sonner has previously said that his client suffered a broken nose and a gash to his head during the altercation.

George Zimmerman's attorney, Craig Sonner, tells TODAY's Matt Lauer that a video of George Zimmerman taken after the killing of Trayvon Martin is too grainy to show whether he had any blood or bruises on his face.

Neighborhood watch volunteer Zimmerman, 28, who was released without charge,?claims he shot dead?the 17-year-old Martin on Feb. 26 in self-defense after the teen attacked him.

Eugene O'Donnell, of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, said the video shows "that it's beyond dispute that there are no serious injuries, physical injuries, he's not in a hospital."

"There's no bruising that's observable," O'Donnell told MSNBC TV's?The Last Word.?However, he added that "it's possible that there are injuries that are not seen in the video."

Richard Kurtz, the funeral director who?prepared Martin's body, was asked if there were any signs on his hands that he had punched someone.

"The only thing that I was able to see was the gunshot wound," Kurtz told The Last Word. "I could not see evidence like he had been punching somebody as the news media say he was punching ... It just did not add up to me."

The death of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin by volunteer neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman has ignited a national conversation about prejudice, justice and the treatment of young African-American men. NBC News anchors, correspondents and contributors discuss the feelings that Trayvon's death sparked and relate their experiences covering the story.

Top Reasons to Play online Pokie Games

Pokie games have been universally accepted to be one of the most rewarding and fun indulgences of all time by now. It's a casino game where you don't need any skills; all you need is the ability to pull a lever or push a button and you're ready to go. Winning in pokie games is a simple matter of chance and that simplicity has attracted billions of people over the years to try their luck at hitting the jackpot. Now the games has been translated successfully onto the world of the internet, thanks to online casino websites that feature high-quality pokie games. Their casino online avatars are much better than their land-based counterparts, and offer a huge variety of perks. Here are the top reasons to play pokies at an online casino:

1. You can play from home
Playing pokie games at an online casino means you don't have to drive up to a casino or even a local bar.

You can enjoy the games and win huge jackpots sitting right at home. Every bit of the excitement and thrill usually associated with the game can be found with the casino online version too.

2. You get more options
Slots at online casino websites have much more options. First there are the different themes that you can choose from - you'll find everything from superheroes to cuddly animals - and then there are the multi-line slots and the mega bonuses that you can win! Multi-line slots are more fun, and you actually have more chances of winning with them!

3. The payouts and the bonuses are bigger
Real-life casinos require more money to operate; a huge amount of money is required for the taxes and the maintenance. There are taxes to be cut from their payouts too. On the other hand, a casino online doesn't need much money to operate for obvious reasons. The cut from the winnings are smaller too. So naturally the payouts are bigger. And when you add the progressive bonuses from the multi-line slots, you get more money!

4. You can find free games
You can easily find free casino online pokie games on a lot of websites. A mere Google search will find you a million results, but it is best to stick with an online casino ranking website. Free pokie games are not only fun but also a good way to test your luck before you try your luck out in a paid casino. This cannot be done at a real casino, you have to spend money for each spin!

Those were the top reasons to play slots on online casino websites. By now you must agree it is much better than playing them at a brick-and-mortar casino!

Corporations shouldn't buy political access | The Business Ethics Blog

? Should employers ask candidates for their Facebook passwords? | Home

By Lauren | March 27, 2012

Living in Washington, D.C., one comes to expect the occasional scandal when a career politician is found to have gotten too cozy with a campaign donor. That?s why it was refreshing - for me, at least - to hear about the latest ?cash for access? scandal across the pond. According to NPR, the co-treasurer of Britain?s Conservative Party, Peter Cruddas, was caught on camera boasting that, for a mere $400,000, one could enjoy dinner with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Finance Minister George Osborne. Apparently dinner could include the opportunity to shape policy; Mr. Cruddas is quoted as saying ?If you?re unhappy about something, you can get - we can - we?ll listen to you, and we?ll put it into the policy committee at number 10? (an apparent reference to the Prime Minister?s residence at No. 10 Downing Street in London). Sadly for Mr. Cruddas, he wasn?t talking off the record to foreign financiers as he thought. His audience was actually a group of undercover reporters from Rupert Murdoch?s Sunday Times, who gleefully reported the whole sorry tale.

There?s something oddly ironic about having a government ?pay to play? scandal outed by one of Rupert Murdoch?s publications; I suppose we should all be grateful that the reporters didn?t tap Mr. Cruddas? cell phone. Putting that irony aside, however, Mr. Cruddas has resigned in disgrace, and now claims he wasn?t telling the truth when he suggested that big donors could purchase big influence with the Prime Minister. Parliament is in an uproar, the Prime Minister is scrambling to contain the damage (he was, after all, elected on a promise to curb corporate lobbying), and the opposition Labour Party is eagerly calling for an independent investigation.

Personally, though, I find myself wondering about corporate donors who would stoop to buying dinner with the Prime Minister in order to bend his ear. There?s nothing wrong with lobbying per se. After all, governments have to prioritize the interests of various segment of the public to govern, and it?s entirely legitimate for a company to want legislators to understand how a particular law or regulation would affect its operations. But if a company wants the government to take its interests into account, those interests should be explained on the record so other interested parties can have their say, too. If it turns out that Prime Minister Cameron has, in fact, been selling access to wealthy corporations, he should pay the price for it ? and so should the corporate executives who came to buy.

HTC partners with Intertrust, buys 20 percent of SyncTV

SyncTV
It's been a while since we've heard the name SyncTV 'round these parts, but perhaps we'll be seeing a bit more of it now that HTC has a stake in the streaming video company. As part of a deal with Intertrust, HTC has purchased 20 percent of its new partner's subsidiary. In addition, the Taiwanese manufacturer has licensed a broad portfolio of patents from the Sunnyvale firm, primarily dealing with DRM. Unfortunately we have no specifics about how HTC plans to leverage its new media property, but hopefully they're working on some fun surprises even as we speak. (Though, most likely, we're just looking at one more piece of manufacturer-installed bloatware.) Check out the brief, and ultimately not very informative, PR after the break.

Cuban-Americans head to Cuba for pope's visit

MIAMI (AP) -- Natalia Martinez speaks with a clinical distance when discussing her family's decision to leave Cuba two decades ago. But the graduate student's cool demeanor falls away when she speaks of returning to her homeland for the first time this week during Pope Benedict XVI's historic visit.

"I am excited. I am nervous, and I'm anticipating confusion," Martinez, 25, said with an anxious laugh.

She could be speaking for many of the more than 300 Cuban-Americans who will form a delegation to Cuba led by Miami's Roman Catholic Archbishop Thomas Wenski. Some of those making the pilgrimage Monday fled the island half a century ago. Some grew up with only the stories their exile parents told them of the island 90 miles (145 kilometers) across the Florida Straits.

What unites these pilgrims is the attachment they feel to the country their families left years ago, even those who have long opposed Fidel and Raul Castro and the communist government they ushered in 53 years ago.

Travel to Cuba is always controversial among Cuban-Americans and the half-century-old U.S. embargo of the island severely limits trips there. In the 1970s, those who visited were often blacklisted in South Florida. A few faced violence upon their return. These days, newer Cuban immigrants often visit relatives on the island. But the issue is still a requisite topic for politicians campaigning in Florida.

It has only been magnified in the run up to the pope's visit.

At least half a dozen older exiles who are returning for the first time to the island declined to be interviewed by The Associated Press because of concerns about the reaction their words might cause in Miami or in Havana.

Many exiles who fled during the early days of the revolution see little reason to return. Cubans are the only group of immigrants who are almost always granted what amounts to political asylum when they reach U.S. soil. Older exiles say travel to the island cheapens legitimate claims for asylum, and they complain that delegations such as Wenski's prop up the Cuban government, which has a stake in all of the country's hotels and tourism services.

Those traveling to Cuba argue more interaction can only help open up the island. Businessman Carlos Saladrigas, 61, is among this group. But it took him years to reach that conclusion.

Saladrigas came to Miami at the age of 12 on the so-called Pedro Pan flights that the Church organized in the early 1960s to bring Cuban children to the U.S. His parents reunited with him a year later. An outspoken critic of the Castro government, Saladrigas helped lead a successful effort to stop a similar archdiocese pilgrimage from going to Cuba during Pope John Paul II's trip there in 1998. That visit was the first by a pope since the Cuban Revolution.

Saladrigas says that experience was a turning point.

"I saw for the Cuban people how it became a great image for change and hope," he said. "And it quickly dawned on me that an isolated Cuba is the most counterproductive thing we can do."

Saladrigas is now co-chairman of the business-led Cuba Study Group. The nonprofit organization advocates for political and economic change on the island but also encourages more exchanges. He returned for the first time last year as part of his work with the Catholic charitable order known as the Knights of Malta.

"But I think this will feel different. I think this is going to be an historic moment," he said.

He is passionate about celebrating not only the pope's visit but also the 400th anniversary of the appearance of the Virgin of Charity of Cobre, Cuba's patron. The statue is housed in a church in an old copper mining town on the southeastern coast of Cuba, where Benedict will pray.

"More than a religious symbol, she is a patriotic symbol that brings Cubans together like nothing else can," he said.

John De Leon, president of the Greater Miami chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, says the historic and religious significance of the pope's trip moved him to go too.

"I am totally in solidarity with Catholics here and Catholics on the island, so I think anything that can foster that solidarity on both sides of the ocean is important," he added.

De Leon grew up in Miami and traveled for the first time to Cuba in 1993 as part of an academic mission, prompting his staunchly anti-Castro exile parents not to speak to him for months. He has returned on several occasions since then, but the last time was nearly a decade ago.

"There was a certain excitement when I went the first time" he said, "but then that sort of faded during the Bush years. There was a clamping down on any meaningful exchange."

President George W. Bush limited cultural and academic trips and prohibited Cuban-Americans from visiting the island more than once every three years. The Obama administration has since relaxed those limitations.

Now De Leon said he is interested in seeing the effects of recent economic changes instituted by Raul Castro, who took over from his ailing brother in 2006.

De Leon said his decision to go was unaffected by the Cuban government's crackdown on dissidents in advance of the pope's arrival. Cuban officials recently removed 13 people from a local church at the behest of Havana Cardinal Jaime Ortega. The group had demanded the pope air a list of their grievances during his trip. Meanwhile, dozens of activists who march weekly in Havana following Sunday masses were detained last weekend and told there would be no more public protests ahead of or during the pope's visit. The opposition group Ladies in White was able to hold its weekly peaceful protest Sunday.

"Obviously it's of concern when there is oppression anywhere of individuals' civil rights," he said. But De Leon said he was not surprised about the stepped-up tensions.

"I think that's what dissidents should be doing, highlighting the problems and their cause, and the best time to do that is when the international spotlight is on the island. And I believe the pope's visit is bringing some kind of hope and expectation," he said.

For Martinez, the visit is less about religion and history than it is about rediscovering her own story.

Her family left when she was 6, while her father was working in Mexico. And her memories from the island are mere snapshots: growing a lima bean shoot in elementary school, her grandmother sneaking a cigarette on the patio of her parents' home, the difficulty some days of finding eggs at the store.

For years she followed her physicist father's creed of always looking forward, never back. But she has long felt something was missing and yearns for a glimpse of her childhood home.

She will be traveling with friends from the nonprofit Roots of Hope, which seeks to connect Cuban youth in the U.S. with those on the island.

"I have wanted to go for a while," she said. "I think I was waiting for the right time and the right group of people."

Thousands rally across US for Trayvon Martin

Jonathan Ernst / Reuters

People gather at a 'Stand Up for Trayvon Martin' rally in Washington on Saturday.

By msnbc.com staff and news services

Updated 6:19 p.m. ET: Thousands of people in cities across the country planned to march this weekend to call for justice in memory of Trayvon Martin, the black teenager shot to death last month by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Florida.

Rallies were planned Saturday in Washington, Chicago, Dallas and Tampa, Fla. Seattle, Baltimore and Atlanta were among other cities hosting weekend events. Protesters were encouraged to wear hoodies ? the type of garment Martin had on when he was killed.

In Tampa, up to 1,000 people marched to one of?the city's?busiest intersections, the Tampa Bay Times reported. They carried signs that said, "I am Trayvon" and "Justice for Trayvon."?Many wore hoodies and carried bags of Skittles, just as Martin did at the time he was shot, according to the Times.

Protesters march in Philadelphia, calling for justice in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

In Columbia, S.C., hundreds of people gathered in Finlay Park, wistv.com reported.

"Trayvon is the Emmitt Till of our generation," said event co-chair Chris Sullivan. He's referring to the Mississippi 14-year-old who was beaten to death in 1955 for allegedly whistling at a white woman.?

"'A threat to justice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,' those are the words of the great Dr. Martin Luther King and that's why we're here today," said Sullivan.

And at a protest in Sanford, Fla., where the shooting took place, members of the New Black Panther Party announced they are offering a $10,000 reward for the "capture" of George Zimmerman, the man whot shot Martin. When asked if he was inciting violence, the group's leader, Mikhail Muhammad, said, "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth," the Orlando Sentinel reported.

In response, city of Sanford officials issued a statement saying the city does not condone the group's actions. "The city is requesting calm heads and no vigilante justice," the statement said.

More than 1.7 million people have signed an online petition urging that the shooter be prosecuted.

Trayvon, my son and the Black Male Code

Martin was killed on Feb. 26. The shooting has set off a nationwide debate over race and justice. Martin's family believes he was killed in part because he was black. Neighborhood crime-watch captain Zimmerman, whose father is white and mother is Hispanic, claimed self-defense. He has not been arrested, though state and federal authorities are still investigating.

A legal adviser to Zimmerman said the shooting had nothing to do with race.

"I asked him, 'Are you a racist? Do you have anything against black people?' and he said 'No'," Zimmerman's legal adviser, Craig Sonner, told CNN on Friday.

PST: Revolution get much-needed win over Timbers

Man of the match:?Winless in two games, the Revolution badly needed some early success to blow up their balloon of confidence. New Revs? striker Saer S?ne provided the very antidote around Gillette Stadium, striking on a glancing header just 28 seconds in Saturday. Portland had plenty of chances, but couldn?t do what Sene did so early and efficiently for the home side.

Packaged for take away:

  • A crowd of 13,000-plus for a home opener? Things aren?t getting any better for the Revs? front office, which is still running ?MLS 1.0? in too many areas.
  • The supporters who did show for Saturday?s 1-0 win up saw some very encouraging signs. Midfielder Kelyn Rowe, the first-round draft pick out of UCLA, is starting to follow up on a promising preseason with bright nights in the regular season. And Lee Nguyen showed some of his nifty dribbling moves along the left. He can be a real factor in the league if he adjusts his game (which sometimes looks like soccer?s version of hoops? street-ball) to the extra-physical MLS defending.
  • What club wouldn?t love to have?Shalrie Joseph? Even if the longtime midfield enforcer around Gillette was a little slow to get going in 2012, he?s still one of the league?s top utility knifes. Playing as an emergency center back on Saturday, he was big and strong all evening on Kris Boyd, the Timbers? DP striker. In fact, the two locked up in some great battles. Remember, this is a guy who can and has played at striker for the Revs ? and surely remains one of the league?s premier holding midfielders, his natural spot.
  • On a couple of instances inside the Revolution penalty area, Joseph did no less than Geoff Cameron did last night to Patrick Ianni on the instance that earned a Sounders? penalty kick. Still, ?you play the game you?re in,? as coaches like to tell players, and in this one it wasn?t a penalty kick.
  • Portland?s attack will get goals this year, but there are still problems along the outside in defense. Most preseason assessments called left back Rodney Wallace and right back Lovel Palmer the weak links going into 2012, and neither has done much to change anyone?s mind. Neither will remember a Saturday as Gillette Stadium as anything shout about.
  • Jay Heaps, the second-youngest MLS coach (and not by much), recorded his first win as man in charge. That?s gotta mean a lot to the longtime Revolution defender, who took the top spot this year with full knowledge that a learning curve would be ahead. In fact, everyone can see that. But patience runs out fast, and nobody wants to hear about learning curves when it starts getting really hot in the kitchen. And 0-3 (where the Revs would have been if they had lost Saturday) would already be a mighty hot kitchen. Bottom line: it doesn?t matter than it was a close one, with some steady goalkeeping required of Matt Reis at the end. The Revs had to have this one.

Here?s the Rev?s early goal.

Work Crew Was the Best! | Morrison Home Improvements, Siding ...

?

?

3/22/12

?

I have to tell you that your work crew, Sam and his partner, were the best!? They carried all four windows up our

extremely long, steep driveway on a very cold January day, along with all of their tools, supplies, etc., and they had

smiles on their faces.? They made sure everything went smoothly without any incident or bad outcome.? They

were pleasant and very happy to do it (even though I have them the option to come back).? We are totally happy

with our windows.? We noticed an extreme difference in the very cold days we had.? We hope to get more over

time.?

?

??????????? Thank you,

Chris & Paul Haley
